2019 is looking like a pretty phenomenal year and I can't wait for next year's awards season.
HONOURABLE MENTIONS: Little Women, Ford Vs. Ferrari, The King, Jojo Rabbit, The Laundromat
#5: US
Lupita Nyong'o is one of the best actresses working today and Jordan Peele is one of the most exciting new directors in the business, following his box-office and critical victory in Get Out, one of the best films of 2017. It is evidence that he capitalising upon his success, and from what we've seen so far, it does not look like its going to disappoint. It looks absolutely insane, and I can't wait.

#4: THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW
Following her Oscar-nominated performance as Lynne Cheney, Amy Adams is back in her wheelhouse when she returns in this Joe Wright-directed psychological thriller, said to examine 'the truth about anxiety'. I predict that this could be her best shot at a win following an impressive 6 nominations throughout 13 years of her career. The Woman In The Window tells the story of an agoraphobic woman living in New York who begins spying on her new neighbours, only to witness a disturbing act of violence.

#3: THE GOLDFINCH
The Goldfinch is based on the acclaimed, raved-about novel by Donna Tartt, following a boy in New York who is taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family after his mother was killed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The premise already has powerful and moving themes, and to combine it with the cast that has been assembled for this film is a very exciting concept, with Ansel Elgort in the lead and Nicole Kidman and Jeffrey Wright taking on the primary supporting roles. I haven't seen the film yet, but I desperately hope that Ansel Elgort will apart of the Best Actor race in next year's awards season.
