Jennifer Lawrence has been off of the radar since her third collaboration with Francis Lawrence, Red Sparrow, which released around this time last year, and besides the upcoming Dark Phoenix film, nothing has been made concrete about any of her future projects. Here, I will be taking a look at what she has coming up.
Dark Phoenix
As an X-Men fan, this inevitably is one to look forward to, but for Jennifer Lawrence fans, not so much. I think it is universally agreed that Lawrence doesn't commit to this role as much as she does to any other, or as much as she used to - it is more of a pay-cheque gig for her which is understandable, even though in the earlier X-Men films such as First Class and Days Of Future Past, she is great. Apocalypse, however, you can tell she doesn't care much about this franchise anymore.
Dark Phoenix will be released June 7, 2019.

Bad Blood
An entrepreneurial biopic starring Jennifer Lawrence - arguably the most lucrative woman in the industry - seems like a very, very natural follow-up to Adam McKay's Vice and The Big Short. Bad Blood is the story of Elizabeth Holmes, and her creation of the bio-tech company Theranos, which sky-rockets her to fame and fortune, however eventually her integrity is questioned. This is promising where awards are concerned, because McKay has consistently managed to bring out performances from his actors which have resulted in Oscar nominations, and with an elite talent such as Lawrence, I doubt this will be an exception. In addition, McKay doesn't have any other directorial work lined up, so I imagine this could be set in motion rather soon.
Films In Development
Zelda
Out of all of Lawrence's upcoming films, I'm looking forward to this the most. Directed by Ron Howard, Zelda is yet another biopic, this time focussing on Jazz Age socialite Zelda Fitzgerald during her marriage to acclaimed novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald. This is beyond exciting to me and I pray that this project makes it through the development stages. F. Scott Fitzgerald is my favourite author, and I have not only been fascinated by his work, but how his real life has heavily influenced his creative endeavours, a significant factor of which being Zelda Fitzgerald. Already knowing how her life tragically ends up makes me incredibly excited to see the heavy, emotional complexity Lawrence will bring to this role - If done right, it will be a really powerful film, and I put my faith in Lawrence and Howard to deliver this. I am aware there is already an Amazon Prime Original Series based around her, but I am going to wait to see a cinematic Zelda only until Jennifer Lawrence graces the screen. In the context of Jennifer Lawrence as well, it has been a rare occasion where she has been in a period piece this far back in time, and most certainly the first time we will see her at the centre of the Roaring 20s. I simply can't wait.
Burial Rites
This also could be an extremely raw and powerful performance from Jennifer Lawrence. Based on Hannah Kent's novel of the same name, Burial Rites follows Agnes, a young woman who is charged with a brutal murder and sent to an isolated farm to await execution. I have not read the book, but the premise sounds very intriguing and I can imagine has the potential to be quite an emotionally harrowing watch. Another aspect of this project just as exciting as the leading performer is that Luca Guadagnino is on board to direct, his most notable work being Call Me By Your Name, a film where the strongest element was the absolutely hypnotically raw yet incredibly artistic direction. If Guadagnino can bring what he brought to Call Me By Your Name to the setting of Burial Rites, I think we could be in for an emotionally harrowing and raw cinematic experience.
