James Gunn Returns To Guardians Of The Galaxy

I said in my Endgame trailer review that this has been Marvel's week for stealing headlines in the film industry, and my statement could not be made even more true with this announcement.
I think this is news that all Marvel fans wanted to hear. I am not even a huge fan of Guardians, I think mostly because Vol. 2 was a let-down for me, but I really enjoy the first one. Although we don't know any different (even though the Guardians have been under the wings of the Russo Brothers in Infinity War), I can't imagine anyone else taking the helm for a Guardians Of The Galaxy film with this cast in the near future, because it would either feel like the director would be trying to imitate Gunn's style or that the film would feel tonally and stylistically inconsistent with the other chapters in the franchise, and both of these results would be somewhat problematic. In addition, the cast would likely not feel the same enthusiasm for the project and therefore we wouldn't get the performances we know and love.

I also would like to point out that this isn't anything to do with how I feel about James Gunn personally - from what I know of him, I'm really not his biggest fan - but I feel that for the Guardians brand to be maintained, there was and is simply no other way.

This is really good news.
