Ranking Marvel's Infinity Saga Before ENDGAME

With Endgame just around the corner, I thought I would round up my thoughts on the rest of Marvel's Infinity Saga by ranking all of the films with a percentage score. This will likely be said plenty of times on this blog in the next few days but wow, what a great run this has been; this is an unprecedented achievement which I don't know will ever be re-created to this level. This saga, even without the defining chapter, has revolutionised blockbuster filmmaking - and I'm sure Endgame will only act as further evidence of this fact.
#20: Thor: The Dark World - 52%
With the potential to be a mystical, fantasy epic, this one seriously let me down.

#19: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 - 56%
Funny, but gimmicky and surprisingly slow-paced... it eventually just turns silly. But with all that being said, we still got Baby Groot.

#18: Ant-Man & The Wasp - 67%
Charming and warm, but simply no stakes - apart from the post-credits scene.

#17: Thor - 67%
At some points, visually stunning, but most of the film isn't, and it's just rather dull. It is at this ranking because of my bias towards fantasy films.

#16: Iron Man 2 - 69%
A weak composition, but still supported by Robert Downey Jr's witty, iconic performance and the introduction of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, a true asset to the MCU.

#15: Iron Man 3 - 73%
A spectacle, but it just doesn't seem to fit with the rest.
#14: Ant-Man - 72%
An entertaining ride, but a small scope.

#13: Thor: Ragnarok - 70%
Tonally and visually inconsistent, but a strong villain and a needed, wonderful reinvention of the God Of Thunder.
#12: Captain Marvel - 75%
An impressively woven plot, an underrated soundtrack, and a worthy new hero.

#11: Doctor Strange - 77%
An exciting entry into another dimension of the MCU. A visual, psychedelic feast.

#10: Captain America: The First Avenger - 80%
Nostalgic, heartfelt and epic, but in the context of the trilogy, it is undoubtedly the weakest link.

#9: Guardians Of The Galaxy - 84%
A cult favourite. A quality soundtrack, a quality cast, a quality script, a quality superhero comedy.
#8: Age Of Ultron - 87%
Most believe its definitely one of the weaker films, however I felt it was an incredibly worthy follow-up. An underrated villain, too.
#7: The Avengers - 90%
The culmination of Phase 1... Arguably the quintessential comic book film. At the time, we thought it couldn't get any bigger than this. How great it has been to be so wrong.

#6: Spider-Man: Homecoming - 92%
Heartfelt, coming of age, genuinely relatable. A perfect marriage of Jon Hughes and Superheroes.
#5: Black Panther - 94%
A transcendent, well-established world of Wakanda, a cultural moment, an instant icon of the genre.

#4: Iron Man - 94%
Where it all began... The greatest origin story of the MCU for the greatest character of the MCU. Mr. Tony Stark. Thank you, RDJ.
#3: Avengers: Infinity War - 95%
An unprecedented achievement, one of the grandest cinematic experiences.

#2: Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 98%
Intellectual, smart, and revolutionary for the genre. Plus, amazing action sequences.

#1: Captain America: Civil War - 99%
In my opinion, the greatest comic book film ever made... real, human conflict, action sequences even exceeding The Winter Soldier, and the most heartbreaking confrontation in the saga... Even though I think that everything I just mentioned is going to be exceeded VERY soon - three guesses ;)
And now we wait... the decade-long countdown is almost up.
