Summer 2018 has been busy. Some disappointments, but the majority were fun at the very least. Today I'm going to be covering this Summer's five highest grossing films and sharing my thoughts.
Not much explaining to do here. It's October and I still haven't managed to pick my jaw up from the floor. I'm still slightly astounded. I don't think I've ever had more enjoyment when watching a film on opening night with a packed audience. The truth is, Infinity War is not just a film, its an experience. 94%
Deadpool 2
This is genius. I was looking forward to Deadpool 2, but I wasn't immensely anticipating it. However, when I watched it, I absolutely loved it. I had so much fun and I think I prefer it to the original. Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the cast were on point, both dramatically and comedically. The action is hilariously spectacular and they hit the dramatic points at all the right moments. 84%
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
This was another enjoyable ride, much like 2015's Jurassic World. With a strong leading duo, intense action and some incredibly poignant moments, Fallen Kingdom makes for a fun experience. However, - again, much like the original - there are some story elements of Fallen Kingdom which are somewhat lazily put together, and their intention to set up a sequel was abundantly obvious... however, its a sequel which I am really looking forward to. 72%
Incredibles 2
Here is a snippet of my full review: A fast-paced, hilarious and worthy follow-up to the Pixar classic. Incredible. My only flaw is that it didn't last longer. 95%
Mission: Impossible - Fallout
This is also an incredibly worthy follow-up to its predecessor. Every action sequence is spectacularly thrilling, and Tom Cruise is so brilliant at delivering them. In my opinion, it doesn't manage to top Rogue Nation, but it's definitely a stellar entry in the 22-year-old Mission: Impossible franchise. 85%
A satisfying summer, with the top performers at the box office all very deserving of their success.
Bring on awards season :)
